Chargeable weight, discounts and surcharges
These rules come from the same rate plans the online estimate uses (rate date 2026-09-28). The estimate is calculated from exactly these rules, so you can check it line by line.

How is the online estimate calculated?
The estimate uses the same rate plans as the chargeable weight, discounts and surcharges section below (rate date 2026-09-28). Volumetric weight is length × width × height ÷ 6000 in centimetres, chargeable weight is the greater of actual and volumetric weight, the heavy-cargo discount for your kg per cubic metre is applied, and size surcharges and fixed fees are added on top.

What are the minimum chargeable weight and starting thresholds?
Oversized sea freight has a minimum chargeable weight of 151 kg per shipment and air carton cargo 12 kg per piece, within the US mainland 48 states. Air carton pieces are limited to 40 kg and 410 cm girth.

Which cases cannot be estimated and need a manual quote?
Three: cargo with any side reaching 500 cm; destinations with ZIP codes starting 006-009, 966-969 or 995-999 (including Puerto Rico, Hawaii and Alaska); and remote addresses for oversized sea freight. All three need to be confirmed individually.

Can anti-dumping products be estimated with this tool?
The base freight can be estimated, but anti-dumping products are priced against the destination country anti-dumping rate and may trigger a product surcharge, so the final price is confirmed manually. The US list includes potassium permanganate, folding gift boxes, ferrovanadium and crepe paper; the Canadian list includes line pipe, copper pipe fittings and silicon metal.
